Summer 2008

July 19th - 25th (7 days)
Introduction to the text "Namshe Yeshe Jepa"
led by Lama Rinchen

"The Tractate Which Deals With the Difference Between an Ordinary Consciousness and the Primary Wisdom" (Namshe Yeshe Jepa Tenche) was written by the III Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje. This text presents the essence of the teachings of the second turning of the Wheel of Dharma. We will study it in a traditional way, analyzing the Tibetan original text word by word. This will also be an occasion to become acquainted with the Tibetan language. Two meetings daily are planned.

Rangjung Dorje wrote three extremely important tractates (shastras):
"Namshe Yeshe Jepa" - presents the teachings of the second turning of the Wheel of Dharma - the teachings on emptiness, interdependent arising and the transformation of eight consciousnesses into the five aspects of primary wisdom and three Kayas.
"Nyingpo Tenpa" (Revealing the Buddha Nature) - presents the teachings of the third turning of the Wheel of Dharma. This tractate explains how the Buddha nature (Tathagatagarbha) is present in all sentient beings, how illusions covering this nature can be elminated on the Dharma path and how this perfect nature manifests after attaining the Buddhahood.
"Zabmo nang gi dyn" (The deep inner meaning) - presents theoretical principles of special Vajrayana practices, such as the Six Dharmas of Naropa. This text is known to be secret and is meant to be studied by those, who are doing these kind of advanced practices.
