Jangsi Tenga Rinpoche has recently come to the Benchen Monastery in Kathmandu. Together with his parents, he will stay there for some time due to severe weather conditions in his home village Rö. Last winter the snowfall was so heavy that it covered their house captivating the whole family in. Therefore, the Benchen Monastery community, by courtesy of Drubwang Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche, has decided that the young Tulku will spend winter in Kathmandu. His Holiness the XVII Karmapa has also agreed that from time to time Rinpoche will attend rituals in the monastery, for instance Mahakala puja or Guru Rinpoche practice.
The journey from Rö to Kathmandu was without any obstacles, this time without renting a helicopter. For five days the whole family walked and most of the time Jangsi Rinpoche walked on his own. Then, the group of wanderers met the delegation of the monastery at the point where further journey could be made by jeep. The family has been brought happily to Kathmandu.
In spring, when snow melts, Jangsi Rinpoche will come back to his village where, according to Karmapa’s and Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche’s recommendations, he should lead a life of an ordinary boy until the age of seven. Meantime, Jangsi Rinpoche continues his education with Khenpo Ösung (see Education of Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche Yangsi).
