Next to His Eminence Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche and Venerable Tenga Rinpoche, the Chime Rinpoche line is the third tulku lineage connected with Benchen monastery.

The first Benchen Chime Rinpoche devoted his life to practising meditation and achieved deep realisation. The third Benchen Chime Tulku lived during the Chinese invasion and never left Tibet. He survived the repressions of the Cultural Revolution to launch a restoration project of the Benchen monastery in 1980's.

In his present, fourth incarnation, Chime Rinpoche also resides at Benchen monastery in Tibet where he completed the traditional Buddhist studies (shedra). He continues to live in the monastery.
