Great Buddhist masters express sometimes their teachings in the form of songs. In Sanskrit they are called “doha” and in Tibetan “gur”. Usually this are immensely essential and heart touching instruction straight from the experience of the author.
Despite of the fact that the most known in Tibet author of such songs is Jetsun Milarepa, most of the Lineage Holders composed such songs as well. Most unique once of them ware brought together by Eight Karmapa, Mikyo Dorje into one volume and it a title “Ocean of songs of the Kagyu”. In following editions also song of the later Lamas ware added.
During this weekend we will learn some chosen songs from that volume and receive a brief explanation to them.
